Kamiya Kaoru

In Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X, Kamiya Kaoru (神谷薫) is the last instructor of Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū, a fighting style developed by her father. She is also Himura Kenshin’s cute love interest. WARNING: her cooking is awful, heh. Ah well he ends up marrying her anyway:

Wikipedia suggests future development: “Curiously, Hinata enjoys a large amount of spotlight in the “filler” arcs created by the anime studio to stall between the Sasuke retrieval arc and the later arcs in the manga. Though it follows the common filler pattern of sending Naruto off to a mission with members of another team, the Bikōchū arc is about her and her development for all intents and purposes, which is very unusual as filler arcs tend to shy away from developments regarding the original cast in order to maintain continuity with the manga.”

Takani Megumi (高荷恵)

Takani Megumi, 高荷恵 in Japanese, is a character from the anime series Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X. Her nickname, kitsune, means fox, so she is often portrayed with foxy ears. Wikipedia adds a bit more about her background:

Takani Megumi was born in December 1857 during the Bakumatsu period of Japan. That would make her twnety-two years old (by East Asian age reckoning) during the start of the anime. Like the rest of her family, she is adept at renguku, a type of medical practice that combined elements of Western and Eastern medicine. The fact that Megumi bore the last name ‘Takani’ spoke of her family’s higher class level above peasants during that time were forbidden to carry family names.

Shinomori Aoshi

One of the main characters of anime show Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X, the 26 year old Shinomori Aoshi is the leader of the Oniwabanshu, a ninja organization. His favorite weapon is the kodachi, which he wielded at various time with either single or double swords. Wikipedia tells us a bit about his history:

Aoshi held Takani Megumi captive to fight Himura Battousai to prove that the Oniwanbanshu were the strongest in Japan. When Kanryu betrayed him, his four subordinates lost their lives while protecting him. Aoshi decided to honour their deaths by proving that the Oniwaban were the strongest warriors. In order to meet this goal, he vowed to fight against Kenshin and win.

Yoruichi Shihouin (四楓院夜)

Yoruichi plays a dark-skinned ex-commander of covert ops in the popular anime Bleach. She can transform into a black cat. She has close relations with Soi Fong and Kisuke Urahara. Often considered the most interesting female character in Bleach, she surprises Ichigo with her body when transforming back from a cat. Chii (チ)

Sometimes also called just Chi, Chii is a robot in the anime Chobits, a beautifully innocent robot who doesn’t balk at any other societal taboo. Wikipedia notes, “Chi (ちぃ) is a persocom and a Chobit (an extremely advanced persocom that possesses a very powerful processor and highly developed programming) that Hideki found tied up in a pile of trash on his way home from work one night. Once activated, Chi is unable to communicate properly, being only able to say “Chii”, which causes Hideki to name her that. Upon activation she remembers nothing.”

Tsunade from Naruto

Tsunade’s name comes from the Tsunade of Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari (“The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya”). The Tsunade in this story excelled in snail magic and was married to Jiraiya. The name “Tsunade” means “mooring rope”.
