Kamiya Kaoru
In Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X, Kamiya Kaoru (神谷 薫) is the last instructor of Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū, a fighting style developed by her father. She is also Himura Kenshin’s cute love interest. WARNING: her cooking is awful, heh. Ah well he ends up marrying her anyway:
Takani Megumi (高荷 恵)
Takani Megumi, 高荷 恵 in Japanese, is a character from the anime series Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X. Her nickname, kitsune, means fox, so she is often portrayed with foxy ears. Wikipedia adds a bit more about her background:
Takani Megumi was born in December 1857 during the Bakumatsu period of Japan. That would make her twnety-two years old (by East Asian age reckoning) during the start of the anime. Like the rest of her family, she is adept at renguku, a type of medical practice that combined elements of Western and Eastern medicine. The fact that Megumi bore the last name ‘Takani’ spoke of her family’s higher class level above peasants during that time were forbidden to carry family names.

Shinomori Aoshi
One of the main characters of anime show Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X, the 26 year old Shinomori Aoshi is the leader of the Oniwabanshu, a ninja organization. His favorite weapon is the kodachi, which he wielded at various time with either single or double swords. Wikipedia tells us a bit about his history:
Aoshi held Takani Megumi captive to fight Himura Battousai to prove that the Oniwanbanshu were the strongest in Japan. When Kanryu betrayed him, his four subordinates lost their lives while protecting him. Aoshi decided to honour their deaths by proving that the Oniwaban were the strongest warriors. In order to meet this goal, he vowed to fight against Kenshin and win.
